Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said that the tragic incident of a student committing suicide due to force harassment in a school in Kerala is going to shock.
He said that those responsible for this (those who harass and failed to take action) should be held accountable. Kerala General Education Minister V. Shivnakutty on Friday directed the Director of General Education (DGE) to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the student’s alleged suicide case on 15 January, which his family claims that in his school near Kochi The student died due to ragging.
Gandhi said in a post on ‘X’, “The tragic death of Mihir Ahmed, who committed suicide due to harassment in a school in Kerala, is heartbreaking. My deep condolences to his family. ”
The former Congress president said, “No child should face all that Mihir faced.” Schools should have a safe place for children, yet they had to suffer constant torture. Those who are responsible for this – torturing and failing to take action – should be held accountable. ”
Gandhi said, “torture is harmful; It destroys life. Parents should teach mercy, love, sympathy and courage to speak. If your child says that he is being threatened, believe it and if he is threatening himself, then intervene.
