Artificial intelligence: Oprah Winfrey’s special program about Artificial Intelligence (AI) on television has made it clear that we, you and most of the people are now interested in AI. AI is everywhere and whether we use it or not or incorporate it into our daily activities or not, we will always be connected to it.
What is AI?
Most people don’t need to know how AI works but rather what it can do. We see basically seven capabilities in AI system, which are different from each other as well as unique in themselves. These include: detection, classification, prediction, recommendation, automation, generation, and communication.
how to identify
At its most basic, the type of AI we’re seeing in consumer products today. Unlike traditional coding, in which developers explicitly try to figure out how a system works, AI ‘learns’ these patterns from a broad dataset and enables it to function.

Once learned, the AI recognizes the pattern just like you unlock your mobile phone with your face.
Classification:
Once AI recognizes patterns we can train it to detect small variations and classify them. This is the way your Photos app organizes albums by family members or erases blemishes on a face. When phone companies and banks identify spam and fraudulent calls, AI works behind the scenes to classify them.
Forecast:
When AI is trained on past data, it can be used to predict future events. For example, airlines predict the estimated time of their upcoming flights and provide passengers with up-to-the-minute information so that you do not have to wait at the terminal. Similarly, Google Flights uses AI to predict flight delays before airlines even announce them.
Recommendation:
Once we find out, we can make recommendations on what to do next. AI based recommendations are everywhere. Social media, streaming platforms, delivery services and shopping apps all use your past activities to show you the right ‘for you’ pages.
Automation:
It’s a short journey from predictions and recommendations to automation. In Germany, AI is being used to keep eagles safe from large windmills. The AI algorithm identifies the birds and automatically slows down the speed of the windmills, allowing them (the birds) to pass without causing any harm.
Generation :
With the help of AI, once we encode complex patterns into a ‘neural network’, we can then use it to create new, similar patterns. It works with all types of data images, text, audio and video. This includes everything from image generation to the use of ChatGPT, in which many things can be changed by changing the picture or the sound in audio and video.
Can be copied easily
Generative AI also makes it possible to mimic human interactions. Soon, virtual assistants and ‘digital humans’ will be everywhere, taking notes as well as notifying you about follow-ups on your meetings or appointments. (The Conversation Language)
