Sealdah Court on Saturday convicted accused Sanjay Roy in the case of rape and murder of the on-duty doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The accused’s mother Malti Roy has reacted to the court’s decision. He said that I have three daughters, I understand their (victim’s parents) pain.
Roy’s mother Malti said on the Sealdah court’s decision, ‘He should be punished. Even if the court asks to hang him, I will accept it.

Roy’s sister Sabita said, ‘What my brother has done is unimaginable and terrible. It breaks my heart to say this, but if he did this, he should get the ultimate punishment. The victim was a woman like me, and a doctor. He further said that I believe he cannot do this alone. They say he was also drunk. Let us tell you, when Sanjay was in custody during the trial, his mother and sister did not come to meet him.
Describing the circumstances after Sanjay’s arrest, Sabita said, ‘From the day my brother was arrested. Didn’t step out of the house. People in my neighborhood are talking very bad about our family. Every Saturday I went to a local temple. I have stopped that also. He further told that on the day of Roy’s arrest, his in-laws had told him a lot.
