Wadettiwar said that BJP has nothing to do with Shinde now. Just as they (BJP) sidelined Uddhav Thackeray and brought Shinde forward, similarly now a new ‘Uday’ will be brought forward.

The opposition in Maharashtra indirectly hinted that state Industries Minister Uday Samant was being groomed by the BJP to replace Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde. Uday Samant has gone to Davos with CM Devendra Fadnavis. Making this claim, Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar alleged that the BJP has decided to eliminate Shinde’s leadership in Shiv Sena. Wadettiwar said that BJP has nothing to do with Shinde now. Just as they (BJP) sidelined Uddhav Thackeray and brought Shinde forward, similarly now a new ‘Uday’ will be brought forward.

Though he did not name Samanta, UBT Sena leader Sanjay Raut went ahead and named Samanta as a challenger to Shinde. Raut said that BJP’s job is to destroy political parties for its own benefit. CM has taken Samant to Davos. I am aware that there are 20 MLAs with him (Samant). Actually, when Shinde was angry at being ignored for the post of CM, BJP’s plan was to go with Samant. But, Shinde came to know about it in time.

However, Samant issued a statement from Davos rejecting the claims and said it was an attempt to create discord between Shinde and him. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the state is working with a holistic approach to attract investments in all sectors, from manufacturing to technology, data centres, healthcare to clean energy. Fadnavis is among the Indian delegation that reached this ski resort town to participate in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
