India today is celebrating its 76th Republic Day with a grand parade on the duty path, demonstrating the country’s military power and rich cultural heritage. This year’s ceremony is extra special because this time there is also a platinum jubilee for the implementation of the Constitution. Indonesia President Prabovo Subianto was present as the chief guest on the occasion, with him a 352 -member Indonesian marching and the band team participated in the parade. Prior to the parade, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the country in paying tribute to the martyred soldiers with a wreath ceremony at the National War Memorial at India Gate.

The parade showed three leading warships INS Surat, INS Nilgiri and INS Vaghasir, who were dedicated to the nation recently in the Indian Navy tableau. The three warships have been designed and manufactured in India completely and this underlines the increasing efficiency in the country’s defense production sector. It is also a symbol of the spirit of ‘self -reliance’.
The flypast consisted of 40 Indian Air Force aircraft including C-30J Super Hercules, C-17 Globmaster and SU-30 fighter jet. Three Dornier aircraft of the Indian Coast Guard made it even more spectacular. Cultural performance by 5,000 artists covered the entire duty path. In which 300 artists played ‘Saare Jahan Se Achcha’ on musical instruments representing different parts of the country.
