Apple introduced a new action button on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max last year. It was later added to all iPhone 16 series models. Apple’s new patent suggests that the upcoming device may also have multiple action buttons. As said earlier the volume rockers on the iPhone can also act as programmable buttons.
It also says that these will use haptic motors to provide feedback when the buttons are pressed. It is also being said that the new buttons will also come to iPad, Mac and other Apple devices.

As for the Apple patent, it is still not clear whether the tech giant is just patenting the technology or is planning to add these configuring buttons and make changes to its models. Apple has been steadily adding buttons to its mobile phones over the past few years, with camera controls being the latest example, so it looks like the company may be bringing an iPhone with multiple customizable buttons.
How does it work: The Action button on the new iPhone lets users access anything they want with just one press. The new button can be customized to not only launch apps, but also activate voice memos, focus, translate, and other accessibility features.
