Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav alleged that in the by -election of Milkipur Assembly, police officers are investigating the identity cards of the voters and have demanded immediate removal of these police officers from the Election Commission. Such people should be removed immediately and punitive action should be taken. ”In response, senior Superintendent of Police of Ayodhya Rajkaran Nayar said that in the picture posted on ‘X’, the policemen are confirming the identity of a polling agent.
Nayar emphasized that police officials are not investigating the identity cards of the voters. In a conversation with reporters, Faizabad SP MP Awadhesh Prasad alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wants to threaten voters by pressurizing the authorities to win the election. He said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself visited Milkipur 10 times in the last few months and deployed 16 ministers but it did not affect the voters and he is supporting the SP. Election officials in Ayodhya said that voting is going on peacefully and complaints are being noted.
Voting for the by -election in Milkipur assembly seat started at 7 am on Wednesday. Ayodhya District Magistrate cum-District Election Officer CV Singh told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ that polling will continue till 5 pm. Singh said that the voting process is going on peacefully at 255 centers amid tight security arrangements. However, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has complained to the Election Commission about fake voting at some polling sites by putting several posts on ‘X’ and malfunctioning electronic voting machines (EVMs) at many places. Ayodhya Inspector General of Police Praveen Kumar told reporters, “Voting is going on peacefully at all polling stations. Magistrates and police officers are on patrol. Ardar forces have been deployed at important polling stations. ‘
