Two assistant engineers of Doordarshan Kendra-Bhubaneswar; And two assistant engineers of DD News-Delhi have been included as suspects in the FIR. As directed by the Lokpal, the CBI has not disclosed the names of the officers or the charges against them.
The CBI has registered a case against a former deputy secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and six former officials of Prasar Bharati in a corruption case referred by the Lokpal. Apart from the former deputy secretary of MOIB, the CBI has also listed a former additional director general (engineering) of Prasar Bharati and an ADG (engineering-headquarters). Two assistant engineers of Doordarshan Centre-Bhubaneswar; And two assistant engineers of DD News-Delhi have been included as suspects in the FIR. As directed by the Lokpal, the CBI has not disclosed the names of the officers or the charges against them.
Following a complaint made last year, the Lokpal, through an order dated December 20, 2024, had asked the CBI to investigate. It has also directed the CBI to keep the identities of the complainant and respondent public servants (suspects) confidential in line with Lokpal rules, officials said. The CBI has registered the FIR under Section 61(2) of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS), which deals with criminal conspiracy and provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
