The engine of a passenger train collided with a large stone placed on the track by an unknown person on the Bareilly-Pilibhit railway section in Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh, although no major damage was reported. Officials gave this information on Wednesday.
Officials said that the incident occurred at 5.45 pm on Monday evening when train number 75302 from Tanakpur to Bareilly City was leaving from Shahi Railway Station and going towards Bijoria Railway Station.
He said, “The engine of the passenger train collided with a stone placed on the track by an unknown person near Bijoria railway station. However, there was no major loss and the loco pilot stopped the train on time.
Officials said that when the train reached Bijoria railway station, the loco pilot informed the railway officials as well as the Government Railway Police (GRP).
Railway officials who reached the spot, after inspecting the train, allowed it to leave for its onward journey. Sanjeev Sharma, senior divisional commercial manager of Izzat Nagar division, said, “An FIR has been lodged in connection with this incident.”
On the complaint of senior section engineer of the track, Netrapal Singh, a case has been registered at Nawabganj police station late on Tuesday night under Section 150 (maliciously attempting to cause damage to a train) of the Railway Act-1989. Officials said that the accused are being identified and searched.
