The body of a Class 12 student of Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya was found hanging in her hostel room on Monday. This information was given by a police officer. Police said that the student has been identified as Utkalika Swain, who was a resident of Kendrapara district.
Police said Swain allegedly used his scarf to hang himself in his room. The hostel warden said, “When I reached the hostel for duty around 8 in the morning, some girl students told me about this. Utkalika was alone in the room because her two classmates had gone to their homes.
“When Utkalika’s friends knocked on the door of her room in the morning, there was no response,” the warden said. After this, the girl students together broke the door and found Utkalika hanging.
After receiving the information, officials of the Capital Police Station reached the hostel and started investigation. Inspector Dayanidhi Nayak, in-charge of Capital police station, said, “On reaching the hostel, we found the girl hanging from the fan in the room. We have started questioning her local parents, friends and hostel staff.” He said that the police has seized Utkalika’s mobile phone. He said that no suicide note has been recovered.
