Bengaluru. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that the Center has approved additional 4.68 lakh houses for people from economically weaker sections in Karnataka. Chouhan, who holds charge of the Rural Development, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, told reporters here that this is in addition to the 2.57 lakh houses originally sanctioned by the Centre. The minister said that this morning he had a meeting with the rural development, revenue and agriculture ministers of Karnataka.

He said that after taking oath as Prime Minister for the third time, Narendra Modi, as part of his commitment to provide permanent house to every poor family of the state, sanctioned 2.57 lakh houses in September and also released grants for this. Now we have decided to increase the target and have approved a total of 4.68 lakh additional houses, the minister said. For BJP, serving the poor is worship of God.

Chouhan appealed to the Karnataka government to complete the housing project as soon as possible. The minister said Rs 97 crore will be released for Karnataka under the Border Area Development Scheme. When asked about Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s allegation of unjust and unequal distribution of funds by the Centre, he said, I have brought wealth to Karnataka. There are two types of politics. One is the politics of allegations and counter-allegations and the other is the politics of development and public welfare. BJP believes in another kind of politics.
