Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh). The MP-MLA court of Moradabad district has rejected the appeal of senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan. This appeal was filed against the sentence awarded by the trial court in the case of blocking traffic in Chhajlat. An advocate gave this information on Friday. Former minister Azam Khan is lodged in Sitapur jail after being sentenced to two years by the special MP-MLA court in the case of blocking the road in Chhajlat police station area in 2008.
In the same case, the court had also punished his son Abdullah Azam with two years’ imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3,000. The court on Thursday upheld the two-year imprisonment and Rs 3,000 fine earlier imposed by the lower court in Moradabad. The case pertains to an incident in 2008, when Azam Khan and his son Abdullah Azam were accused of blocking a road outside Chhajlat police station.
Confirming the court’s decision, Special Public Prosecutor Mohan Lal Vishnoi said, MP-MLA (ADJ 5) The court rejected Azam Khan’s appeal. In this, both the punishment and the order have been upheld. The lower court had given this decision on 13 February 2023. Abdullah Azam’s appeal in this case is pending in other courts. Vishnoi said that Abdullah’s case is also being heard in the Supreme Court. In this case, the MP-MLA court had convicted Azam Khan and Abdullah Azam and they had filed separate appeals challenging the verdict.
