Delhi Elections: Congress in preparation to spoil AAP’s game, focus on minority and OBC voters

Congress is focusing on specific voter groups in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. The party is campaigning in all 70 constituencies. But giving priority to areas with significant minority, OBC and Scheduled Caste population. Congress aims to reconnect with these traditional supporters. The focus of Congress is especially visible in the slum areas. In such a situation, Congress is trying to spoil the game of Aam Aadmi Party. However, it is also true that before 2013, these voters used to belong to Congress only.

A party official said that minority dominated constituencies like Mustafabad, Seelampur, Okhla, Babarpur, Chandni Chowk, Matia Mahal, Ballimaran and Gokulpuri have continuously supported us over the years. According to the party leader, this explains why we secured enough votes during the last assembly and Lok Sabha elections. We have already announced candidates for most of these constituencies to ensure adequate time to make the constituents aware of our party’s guarantees.

The Congress is also targeting constituencies where it got substantial vote shares in the 2020 elections, including Badli, Gandhi Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, Hari Nagar, Seelampur, Jangpura and Bawana. Rahul Gandhi will hold his first public meeting in Delhi on January 13 in Seelampur. Several candidates have been announced, including former AAP members.
