Local panchayat chief Tejlal Mahato said that the elephant had entered the village to eat crops at night and fell into the well which led to his death. The villagers saw the elephant falling in the well in the morning and informed the forest department about it.
An elephant died after falling into a deep well in Gopo village of Bokaro district of Jharkhand on Thursday night. A forest officer gave this information on Friday. Bokaro’s Forest Division Officer (DFO) Rajneesh Kumar said, the elephant had deviated from its herd and accidentally fell into the well.
