Farmer movement reached Rajasthan via Punjab-Haryana, preparations for big demonstrations, Dalwal will join online

The farmers’ movement has been going on for the last several months on the Shambhu and Khanouri border connecting Haryana and Punjab. Now this movement has reached Rajasthan, moving beyond Punjab and Haryana. Farmers’ organizations have organized a mahapanchayat in Ratanpura village of Rajasthan on 11 January. The speed on Shambhu and Khanouri borders slowed down, Form Union leaders are now focusing on protesting a major protest on the occasion of their first mahapanchayat in Ratanpura, Rajasthan on February 11. Mahapanchayats are going to be held in Ratanpura (11 February), Khanouri (12 February) and Shambhu (13 February). To ensure maximum participation in the Mahapanchayat of February 11, farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallawal is all set to address the farmers through video-conferencing.

Meanwhile, Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) convenor Saravan Singh Pandher has managed to gather a large number of farmers to maintain pressure on the land. The activity in Shambhu remains stable, there has been a relative peace in Khanouri since the visit of Priyal Ranjan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on 18 January. During his visit, Ranjan met Jagjit Singh Dallewal and invited farmer leaders to discuss. Representatives of SKM (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha (KMM) will participate in the discussion from 13 February 2024.

SKM (Non-Political) leaders Kaka Singh Kotra and Abhimanyu Kohar have urged the farmers to maintain pressure despite further discussion. Kohar said that if we become careless and start thinking that the conversation has started, then the result of our movement will be different. We should keep increasing pressure. Meanwhile, the third round of unity dialogue, known as Ekta Sankalp, is in uncertainty. SKM (All India), including prominent leaders like Joginder Singh Ugrahan, Balbir Singh Rajewal and Dr. Darshan Pal, invited SKM (Non-Political) and KMM leaders for the third round of unity talks.
