At least four people were killed and several injured in firing in a village in northwest Pakistan on Friday during a jirga (tribal council) organized to broker reconciliation between two rival groups. Police gave this information.

The incident took place at Gandi Chowk near Al-Nasir Hotel in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province when a Jirga between two Waziri tribes turned violent and firing broke out.

“Four people died and several others were injured in the firing,” police said. The dead and injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Police said that a team reached the spot and started investigation. The accused fled from the spot immediately after the incident.
