Gold worth Rs 1.41 crore seized at Delhi airport, accused couple arrested

Gold worth Rs 1.41 crore smuggled at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport has been seized and the accused couple has been arrested in this connection.

The Customs Department gave this information on Monday. According to the Customs Department, the couple was stopped at the airport after arriving from Bahrain on Sunday. Customs officials recovered 1.5 kg of gold (worth Rs 1.11 crore), the Customs Department said in a post on Twitter.

The smuggled gold was hidden in the form of 15 silver-coloured metal wires inside a trolley bag being carried by the male passenger. Apart from this, officials also recovered gold in the form of four silver colored metal wires hidden inside the trolley bag of a woman passenger, the Customs Department said.

He said that a total of 1.90 kg gold was seized from him, which is worth Rs 1.41 crore. The customs officer said that the accused husband and his wife have been arrested in this connection.
