Chandigarh Punjab farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallawal said that he would continue his fast unto death until the central government accepts the demands of the farmers, including the legal guarantee of the minimum support price (MSP) for crops. Dallawal told the media at the Khanouri picket site that the entire country needs MSP. He said without explaining in detail, “Punjab also needs an MSP to save its underground water level.”
A high -level delegation of the Central Government invited the agitating farmers to discuss their demands on 18 January for a meeting on 14 February, after which Dallawal started taking medical assistance but did not end his fast. . The United Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) convenor Dallawal has been going on an indefinite hunger strike at the Khanouri border since 26 November last year on various demands, including legal guarantee of minimum support price for crops.
The farmer leader thanked the farmers and workers for supporting the movement and said that the Kisan forums – the United Kisan Morcha (Non -Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha – to get an invitation from the high -level delegation of the Center on February 14. After that he was requested to seek medical help after which he accepted this help. He said, “I only took medical help. (After that) vomiting has stopped coming. My fast unto death continues and it will continue until the government fulfills our demands. ”
Dallewal said to attend the meeting of 14 February, everyone wants him to attend the meeting. He said, “But health is not allowing it. I do not have the strength to go. ”Dallawal appealed to the farmers to gather at the Khanouri dharna site on 12 February. He said, “If all people come, I will get more strength. If God wished, I will be able to go to the meeting (on 14 February) and keep my point. So I urge you to gather here in large numbers on February 12 because I get energy by seeing you.
