Manipur Chief Minister said, “We cannot live together without common development and mutual respect. Every facility available in the valley should be available to the hill people also. Only through equal development and mutual respect can a strong Manipur and united India be created.”

Amidst the return of peace in Manipur, Chief Minister Biren Singh is continuously appealing to the people to forget old things and start life afresh. His appeal also seems to be having an effect. Besides, the Chief Minister is also asking people to be cautious about illegal immigration because the environment of the state is deteriorating due to infiltrators. Let us tell you that Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has said that the indigenous community of the state needs to be ‘very cautious’ about illegal immigration. Addressing a gathering in Tamenglong district, Biren Singh said that his government takes care of every community in the state without any discrimination. He said, “The issue of illegal immigrants and Rohingyas in Assam and Tripura cannot be ignored. If we do not check properly we will become unsafe. We natives must be very careful. There is no one to care for us. There is no border fence and no border security. Even now it (the border) is not being properly maintained.” Biren Singh said the lack of trust and respect between communities has created uncertainty in the state. He said, “We cannot live together without common development and mutual respect. Every facility available in the valley should be available to the hill people also. Only equal development and mutual respect can build a strong Manipur and a united India.” He said, ”During the seven-eight years of BJP-led government’s rule in the state, two years were lost to Covid. Another two years were lost in the ongoing conflict. We barely got three years to work.”

A day before this, the Chief Minister of Manipur had said that every misunderstanding should be removed by sitting together and discussing and all the recognized tribes of the state should live together. He had said in the 53rd State Foundation Day celebrations that now we should stop getting involved or speaking on irrelevant matters and stop efforts to divert attention from the issues. Let us remind you that Manipur attained the status of a full state on 21 January 1976. The Chief Minister said, “Every misunderstanding should be resolved by sitting together and discussing.” Let’s stop engaging or speaking on irrelevant matters and stop attempts to divert attention from the issues. What we (the state government) had said was about proper identification of illegal immigrants and deporting them. We never said anything against any old resident of the state. All recognized tribes need to live together.” Biren Singh said, ”The BJP-led government is working to hand over a completely intact state to the present and future generations.”

The Chief Minister also said that the BJP-led government in the state believes in inclusive development and does not discriminate between hill and valley districts while allocating welfare projects. The Chief Minister said, “The BJP-led government does not discriminate between hills and valleys in allocating development projects. We believe in inclusive growth. “When we show respect to each other, the bond of unity becomes stronger.” Elaborating on some of the major works done during the last seven years in Kamjong district of the hill region, Biren Singh said that the construction of a mini secretariat in the district has been completed and it will be inaugurated soon. He said that to solve the problem of water shortage in Ukhrul district, a dam has been constructed on Shiroy Hill and an amount of about Rs 6 crore has been sanctioned for it. The Chief Minister also assured the people that the government will construct a gallery at the Lungreifung grounds of Riha village at a cost of about Rs 2.5 crore.
