Paris Olympic medalist and international shooter Manu Bhaker’s maternal grandmother and maternal uncle died in a road accident in Dadri police station area here on Sunday. Police gave this information.
Police officials said that both of them were going on a scooty on Mahendragarh bypass road of Charkhi Dadri, when a car hit their scooty. Assistant Police Inspector (ASI) Suresh Kumar, investigating officer of Dadri police station, said that the collision was so severe that both of them died on the spot and the driver fled from the spot immediately after the accident.
He said that the deceased have been identified as Manu Bhakar’s maternal grandmother Savitri Devi (70) and maternal uncle Yudhveer (50), who were drivers in Haryana Roadways. Kumar said that the police have sent the bodies of both of them for post-mortem. According to him, the police is searching for the accused.
Two days ago, Manu Bhakar was honored with the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award by the President, after which there was an atmosphere of happiness in the house. But after this accident, there is mourning in his house.
