Jammu and Kashmir Police has claimed to have solved the grenade attack on Territorial Army camp in Hamre Pattan within 24 hours, arresting three people including a surrendered terrorist. On 7 January, an attack targeting 163 Territorial Army MI room caused significant damage to the roof of the camp, but there were no casualties. Addressing a press conference, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Baramulla, Firoz Yehya gave information about the case. He said prompt police action following the attack led to the identification and arrest of the suspects.

The ASP revealed that the arrested persons include a surrendered terrorist, the son of another surrendered terrorist and a third person said to be the mastermind of the attack. A large quantity of ammunition has also been recovered from them. The mastermind was evading arrest for two years and is also involved in a drug case. ASP Yehya said that through diligent investigation, we were able to connect the dots and catch those responsible. Thanks to the efforts of many of our teams, the matter was resolved within 24 hours.

However, the police refrained from revealing the identity of the accused due to the ongoing investigation. The ASP said that we are now investigating possible links between the attack and other criminal activities in the area. The activism of surrendered militants leads to a lack of trust between the police and their families.
