Critics, including BJP leaders like state president Vijayendra, have pointed to the government’s lack of urgency and accused his cabinet, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, of being busy in internal power struggles instead of focusing on the development of the state.
As India’s major states compete for global investment at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 in Davos, the opposition in Karnataka pointed to the state’s absence and questioned the state government’s priorities. While states like Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Telangana are actively seeking investments, Karnataka is notably absent from the prestigious event. This is in stark contrast to last year’s WEF, where Karnataka signed deals worth Rs 22,000 crore.
Vijayendra Om X wrote that Congress’s priorities are clear. He emphasized that Congress’s focus on political maneuvering has overshadowed the economic and governance priorities of the state. Leader of the Opposition (LoP) R Ashoka, in a post on Twitter, said neither Siddaramaiah nor any of his cabinet colleagues is interested in representing the state at an important world stage. Due to the mysterious power sharing agreement, Siddaramaiah and his entire cabinet including DK Shivakumar are immersed in dirty power politics and monopoly, which has completely paralyzed the economy and governance of Karnataka.
