CM Mohan Yadav-led Madhya Pradesh government has approved the ban on liquor in 17 holy cities of the state. Regarding this, CM Mohan Yadav said that to ensure that the state gradually moves towards prohibition, we have decided that in the first phase, liquor shops will be closed in Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council, Nagar Panchayat of 17 cities. These shops will not be shifted anywhere else. It has been decided to close these shops permanently.

The CM said that liquor will be banned wherever Lord Krishna and Lord Ram have set foot in Madhya Pradesh. CM Mohan Yadav on Thursday had announced prohibition in 17 religious cities and towns of the state. The CM said that all types of liquor, whether indigenous or foreign, will be completely banned in the 17 religious cities and towns of our state. The Cabinet has approved this decision today and this ban will be implemented soon.
Mohan Yadav government has included the names of districts like Ujjain, Omkareshwar, Maihar, Khajuraho, Maheshwar, Orchha, Sanchi, Nalkheda, Salkanpur, Jabalpur, Mandsaur etc. under this. Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti welcomed the Madhya Pradesh government’s proposal to ban liquor at religious places and said it is a step towards prohibition across the state. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had last week said the government was considering banning the sale and consumption of liquor in religious towns to ensure that the sanctity of these places is maintained.

He said that the liquor ban policy announced by our government two years ago was very public interest and practical. We were moving towards complete prohibition. This is another step towards complete prohibition. Responding to his post on Twitter, Yadav said that banning alcohol consumption in “religious cities” is one of the priorities of his government.
