Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar said in a statement, as soon as SP Sunita Sawant started collecting information of Bajrang Dal leaders in Goa, the government got nervous and immediately transferred them. This shows that the BJP is engaged in protecting its ideological colleagues, not the administration.
The Government of Goa issued a wireless message late night from the control room and transferred the Superintendent of Police (SP) of South Goa district Sunita Sawant. An official said that SP Sawant was transferred on Monday night as part of a regular process. After this case, the Congress alleged that the SP’s sudden and politics inspired transfer occurred when they started collecting information about the leaders of the Bajrang Dal in the state. It also said that the move revealed how the administration was being controlled by the communal agenda of the RSS-BJP. He further said that this transfer is an attempt to intimidate honest officers so that they do not take any action on communal forces. Bajrang Dal’s Goa convenor Viraj Desai said that he has no information about this transfer. He said, we are active organizations in nation building and organize many programs for the youth. We do not know why SP was transferred. Goa Director General of Police Alok Kumar said that the decision to transfer SP level officers is taken by the state government and it would not be appropriate to comment on it. The Congress sought clarification from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on transfer. The Congress termed the transfer as an interference in the judicial process and asked to support honest officials.
