Rajiv Ranjan Prasad said that it is misleading and baseless. The party has taken cognizance of this and the Manipur unit president of the party has been relieved from his post. He said that we have supported NDA and our support to the NDA government in Manipur will continue in future also. The Manipur unit did not communicate with the central leadership, they were not taken into confidence. He (Manipur JDU chief) himself had written the letter. Considering this as indiscipline, action was taken against him and he was relieved from the post.
The party spokesperson clearly said that we are with the NDA and the state unit will continue to serve the people of Manipur for the development of the state. JDU won six seats in the 2022 assembly elections in Manipur, but months after the elections, five MLAs defected to the BJP, strengthening the ruling party’s tally. BJP currently has 37 MLAs in the 60-member assembly. It has the support of five Naga People’s Front MLAs and three independent MLAs, giving it a comfortable majority. Earlier, Manipur’s JDU unit chief Kesh Biren Singh had written a letter to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla informing him about the incident.
