Multan City Police Officer (CPO) Sadiq Ali told Geo News that several houses were destroyed and livestock died in the fire. He told that gas was leaking from a valve of the tanker truck parked in the industrial estate. He said that even before the explosion in the tanker, some people present in the area had moved away after smelling the gas. Ali further said that gas continued to leak from the tanker, forcing officials to evacuate the area. The condition of 13 of the injured is said to be serious.
At least six have been killed and 31 others have been injured after an LPG tanker exploded in Pakistan’s Punjab province. According to rescue officials, the incident took place in the industrial estate in Hamid Pur Kanora area of Multan. According to Geo News report, the explosion in an LPG tanker on Monday caused a massive fire and the debris of the broken vehicle fell into the surrounding residential areas, causing a lot of destruction.
Rescue officials said the fire was extinguished after hours of efforts, including more than ten firefighting vehicles and foam-based fire suppression. Initially, a total of five people were reported killed in this deadly blast. However, the death toll rose to six after rescue officials recovered another body from a house damaged by the blast. The report said that the dead included a minor girl and two women. Police said at least 20 houses around the blast site were completely reduced to debris, while 70 were partially damaged.
