The Supreme Court on Tuesday reprimanded the Assam government and the Center for not deporting people declared foreigners and keeping them in detention centers indefinitely. The apex court asked the Assam government whether it was waiting for any Muhurta (auspicious time) and directed him to start exile of 63 people kept in custody centers within 2 weeks. Indefinite detention in detention camps is a violation of basic rights. The Supreme Court said that people cannot be kept in custody centers indefinitely.
