The official said that on January 19, a 13-year-old boy allegedly sexually assaulted a nine-year-old girl in Dariyapur and the accused has been sent to a juvenile home.

Protests were held in several areas on Monday in Dariyapur in Maharashtra’s Amravati district after two cases of sexual assault were reported in the last one week. A police official said that on January 16, 65-year-old Prakash Pundkar allegedly sexually assaulted a three-year-old girl in Yevdha village of Dariyapur.

The accused has been arrested in this regard. The official said that on January 19, a 13-year-old boy allegedly sexually assaulted a nine-year-old girl in Dariyapur and the accused has been sent to a juvenile home.

Shops remained closed in Dariyapur today and the protesters submitted a memorandum to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate. Members of social organizations and officials of all major political parties participated in the protest. On January 18, many organizations had protested in Yevdha.
