Rajasthan: Government university professor commits suicide

On Thursday, a government university professor in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from his office window. A police officer gave this information.

Pratapnagar police station in-charge Bharat Yogi said that Professor Naveen Chaudhary (54) of Maharana Pratap Agriculture and Technology University of Udaipur committed suicide by hanging himself from the window of his office room.

He told that a suicide note has been found from the room, in which the professor has written that he took this step due to his illness. Yogi said that the body has been kept in the mortuary of MB Hospital for post-mortem and the family members have been informed about the incident.

The officer said that the post-mortem will be conducted on Friday morning after the family members reach here. He told that Choudhary was working in the Computer Science department and had reached the college at around 9 in the morning.

The officer said that Chaudhary had signed the attendance register. According to the police station officer, the staff told during interrogation that the professor used to meet everyone when he came to the office but on Thursday he did not talk to anyone and went to the office. He told that after a long time, when the head of the department sent staff members to find out Choudhary, they found the professor hanging from the window. The officer said that the police is investigating the matter.
