The third Test could prove to be decisive in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy being played in Australia. The team that wins here will get the edge. Challenges seem to be more for the Indian team, because its key batsmen like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have failed in the last Test.

- Rishabh Pant’s bat has remained calm till now
Sports Desk, Indore (INDvsAUS). The third Test between India and Australia is going to be held at the Gabba ground in Brisbane from 14th December. Team India had registered a resounding victory in the first Test played in Perth, but had to face a humiliating defeat by 10 wickets in the second Test played in Adelaide.
The five-Test series is tied at 1-1. The third test is going to be important for both the teams. The Indian team will have high expectations from its wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant.
Pant’s bat has not done much in the two test matches so far. They have failed to convert good starts into big scores. He has scored only 87 runs in four innings of two Tests.
Pant did wonders in Gaba in the year 2021
- In the year 2021, when Team India toured Australia at this time of the year, Pant had played two tremendous innings. It was on the basis of those innings that Pant’s place in the Test team was confirmed.
- Pant played a brilliant inning of 97 runs in 118 balls in the Sydney Test. In particular, Kangaroo bowler Nathan Lyon was washed out. On the basis of this inning, Team India had reached the target of 407 runs. However the match was drawn.
- After this the next Test was played in Brisbane. There Pant played an unbeaten inning of 89 runs and helped the team successfully chase 328 runs.
- This victory was also special because India ended Australia’s 32-year-long winning streak at Gabba. Also achieved second consecutive series win in Australia.
- After his match-winning performance at Gabba, Pant’s career in Test started taking off. After that series, he scored 1966 runs in 27 matches at an average of 44.68 and an impressive strike rate of 77.61.

Rishabh Pant’s hunger increased further after his return
Pant returned to Test cricket after the accident. Now it is seen that his hunger for runs has increased further. Pant completed his M.A. earlier this year. Made a spectacular comeback in the longest format after 21 months by scoring a match-winning century against Bangladesh at the Chidambaram Stadium.
After this, he scored 99, 60 and 94 runs in the three-match Test series against New Zealand. Pant has been able to start in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024, but has failed to convert it into a big score.
His amazing stroke play in Adelaide may have reminded the hosts of his past performances as it serves as a warning sign for Australia for the rest of the series. Pant will have to score big for the Men in Blue, who have so far not been able to score much runs in the last three out of four innings.
