Share Market Update : There was a fall in the local stock market on Monday and BSE Sensex lost more than 200 points. Nifty also slipped by 58.80 points or 0.24 percent and closed at 24619 points. Amid mixed sentiment globally, the market remained in loss due to selling in major stocks like Reliance Industries, Hindustan Unilever, Axis Bank. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors were sellers on Friday and sold shares worth Rs 1,830.31 crore.
In volatile trading, the 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 81,508.46 points, down 200.66 points or 0.25 percent. During trading, it reached a high of 81,783.28 and a low of 81,411.55. National Stock Exchange’s Nifty also slipped by 58.80 points or 0.24 percent and closed at 24,619 points.

Among the 30 Sensex stocks, Hindustan Unilever, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, Nestle India, Asian Paints, ITC, Reliance Industries, Mahindra & Mahindra, IndusInd Bank and State Bank of India were major losers. On the other hand, the gainers include Larsen & Toubro, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, HDFC Bank, Adani Ports, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharti Airtel and PowerGrid.
Mehta Equities Ltd. Prashant Tapse, Senior Vice President (Research), said, the market traded in a limited range due to lack of enthusiasm among investors after last week’s rally and most of the market was in decline. In other markets of Asia, South Korea’s Kospi and China’s Shanghai Composite were in loss while Japan’s Nikkei and Hong Kong’s Hang Seng were in profit.

There was a bullish trend in the major markets of Europe in afternoon trading. American markets were in gains on Friday. Global oil benchmark Brent crude rose 0.89 percent to $71.75 per barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors were sellers on Friday and sold shares worth Rs 1,830.31 crore. On Friday, BSE Sensex had lost 56.74 points while Nifty had fallen by 30.60 points. (Language)
