Six passengers died and 22 others were injured when a bus fell into a ditch in Srinagar area of Pauri district of Uttarakhand on Sunday. An officer gave this information.
According to information received from the State Disaster Response Force (SDF), the accident occurred near Dahalchauri when the bus lost control and fell into a ditch 100 meters below the road.
SDRF said that at the time of the accident, the bus was going from Pauri to Dahalchauri and a total of 28 people were traveling in the vehicle. According to the information, five passengers died on the spot in the accident while another passenger died during treatment.
According to SDRF, local people also helped in conducting the rescue operation after the accident and the injured were evacuated and taken to the district hospital of Pauri.
SDRF said that in view of the critical condition of eight of the injured, they were shifted to the health center in Srinagar for better treatment. Pauri District Magistrate Dr. Ashish Chauhan reached the spot and monitored the rescue operation.
He instructed transport department officials to investigate the cause of the accident. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow over the accident. Expressing his condolences, Dhami prayed to God to give strength to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
