Today, a young man was shot dead by unknown assailants over old enmity in Jewel Chowk area of Jammu. The victim, Sumit Jandiyal, was traveling in his SUV Thar when 4-5 assailants ambushed him and opened fire several times, seriously injuring him. Passersby took him to the Government Medical College, Jammu, where doctors declared him dead. After the attack, the attackers fled from the spot, causing panic in the area.

Police teams were immediately deployed and a search operation has been launched to nab the culprits. Preliminary investigation suggests that the incident occurred due to mutual enmity. Officials are examining CCTV footage and taking statements from eyewitnesses. The incident has raised security concerns among residents, who have demanded swift action to bring the culprits to justice.

Jammu ADGP (Additional Director General of Police) Anand Jain said that a person named Sumit Jandial was shot in this incident. He was attacked by his rival gang. This is not a terrorist case. Investigation of the matter is ongoing. The victim has died and we have formed a team, the culprit will be caught soon.
