There should be concern about Allahabad High Court
The Supreme Court said that we do not know what will happen about some High Courts. Allahabad High Court is one of these, about which one should be worried. The court made this comment in the case related to late leader Mukhtar Ansari. The court asked to maintain status quo regarding construction of houses under PM Awas Yojana on the disputed land in Lucknow. Mukhtar’s sons are claiming the land. His lawyer said that the case was repeatedly listed before the High Court, but no interim stay was imposed.
Religious activity not allowed near Sambhal Masjid well
The Supreme Court on Friday ordered maintenance of status quo regarding a private well near Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal. Said that no step should be taken without his permission. Notices were also issued to the Centre, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Sambhal district administration and other parties. The mosque management committee had said that the district administration is running a campaign to revive old temples and wells. There is also a well near the mosque. Lawyer Huzefa Ahmadi said that a plan has been made to start religious activities there. The Chief Justice said, ‘No such activity will be allowed.’

Those who left the course, one more chance in JEE Advanced
The Supreme Court on Friday allowed registration in JEE-Advanced 2025 for students who had left their courses between November 5 and 18, 2024. This decision was given on the petitions filed against reducing the number of attempts from 3 to 2. The petition said that the Joint Admission Board had earlier said that those who have done 12th in 2023, 24 and 25 can appear for JEE-Advanced. But on November 18, 2024, it was limited to only 2024 and 2025. The court said, students who had dropped out of their courses on the basis of the press release of November 5 will be eligible to appear in the examination.
Refusal to hear petitions against one-third women’s reservation
The Supreme Court refused to entertain petitions challenging the delimitation clause of the Nari Shakti Vandan Act of 2023, which provides for reservation of one-third seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. A bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and PB Varale was not inclined to consider the petitions filed by Jaya Thakur and National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW) under Article 32 of the Constitution. The bench pointed out that Jaya Thakur’s petition challenged the bill which had become an Act, while NFIW challenged the limitation clause of the law. Thakur’s petition was rejected as futile. The court was not inclined to even consider NFIW’s petition under Article 32.
What is the solution to air pollution or will we see only smoke every year?
The Bombay High Court wondered whether there would be any solution to air pollution in the city or whether citizens would have to face smoke every year after Diwali.
