The company’s 320-foot (98-meter) long ‘New Glenn’ rocket was scheduled to launch with a prototype satellite from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida before dawn, but launch controllers were unable to reach the final destination of the countdown. Within minutes the rocket suffered a malfunction and timed out.
As soon as the countdown stopped, they immediately started draining all the fuel from the rocket. ‘Blue Origin’ has not yet set a new date for the launch of this rocket and said that the team needs more time to solve the problem. The test flight had already been delayed due to adverse sea conditions, threatening the company’s plan to land the first stage booster on a floating platform in the Atlantic.
The rocket ‘New Glenn’ is named after John Glenn, the first American to orbit the Earth. It is five times longer than Blue Origin’s ‘New Shepard’ rocket that carries paying customers into space from Texas.
